The problem
Like most lakes in India, Karanji Lake suffered from neglect over time, resulting in water pollution. The sewage from Siddhartha Layout exacerbates this issue, flowing straight into the lake from a storm water drain, further contaminating its waters. The lack of maintenance and the steady stream of sewage have turned Karanji Lake into a polluted water body that lacks its former allure.
Our natural solution
A natural solution to the pollution plaguing Karanji Lake is the installation of Floating Gardens. To prevent further sewage contamination and to purify the lake’s waters, 1500 sq. ft. of Floating Gardens were installed near the root of the problem, the storm water drains. The plant roots in the Floating Gardens act as natural biofilters that absorb impurities and nutrients as the sewage water passes through them. As a result, the water entering the lake through the Floating Gardens is now free from contamination.
Restoring the pristine environment
The Karanji Lake Project successfully tackled the sewage contamination problem. The Floating Gardens placed strategically near the storm drains helped purify the sewage water streaming in, preventing further water contamination. Our innovative and eco-friendly approach helped preserve the lake’s water quality as well as the areas surrounding it. The lake and the adjacent park continue to remain tourist attractions in the area.
