The Surya Kund Restoration Project

Surya Kund is a heritage site in Uttar Pradesh with great spiritual significance. Legends say it has hosted many gods, including the sun god Surya, during Lord Rama's coronation. Surya Kund’s proximity to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya makes it a very important site even today.

The Problem

Devotees and travellers seek the Surya Kund for its spiritual and health benefits. However, the water quality has degraded over time. To offset the damage done by pollutants, Floating Gardens were used to restore the natural purity of the water and add to the region’s attractiveness.

Our natural solution

To recover the lost beauty of Surya Kund, 2500 sq. ft. of Floating Gardens were constructed to cover the large area. The diversity of flowering plants in the garden brings freshness above and below the water. Plant roots act as biofilters, absorbing impurities and pollutants from the water. This natural process of purification helps restore the quality of water over time. An added benefit of Floating Gardens is that they keep the water body odour-free.

Restoring The Clean Aura

When the project was launched, it was inaugurated by the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh and the Municipal Commissioner of Ayodhya. The Surya Kund Restoration Project has successfully enhanced the quality of the water and the aesthetics of the area. Visitors are now drawn to the clean and odour-free environment, making Surya Kund an attractive destination for those who seek the Lord’s blessings.
